Requester tags
Implementation contracts and behavior for requester tags.
Radarr/Sonarr/Chaptarr/Lidarr instance create/update accepts tag_requests, default false. Omitted updates preserve the saved value; other service types reject true. /api/config advertises requester_tagging. New admissions capture an eligible request_tag_jobs row per requester and concrete format in the request transaction, including already-monitored/available no-op requests. Old and deduped historical requests are never backfilled. Tags wait for successful delivery and retain the original requester’s identity, destination, and TV match snapshot.
The independent tag worker uses the native tag API and additive movie/series/artist editor APIs. Chaptarr tags the author for each delivered format through its individual author editor, merging a fresh tag list and preserving required paths/profiles without overriding inherited format monitoring. Chaptarr has no conditional tag update, so a simultaneous native edit to those fields can race the write. Its legacy bulk editor does not update the visible format tag arrays. Labels start with cantinarr-{userID}- and a normalized username; an existing tag with that user-ID prefix is reused after renames. It preserves other tags, verifies the live native title identity, and rechecks current authority, content policy, destination configuration, TV match revision, and its durable lease before writes. Tag failures never change media delivery, approval or quota records. Transient failures use exponential backoff from one minute to six hours, honor longer Retry-After delays, and stop after 50 attempts. Retry resets that budget for the existing job only. Disabling the setting or changing the instance URL cancels unfinished jobs atomically; applied tags remain and re-enabling admits only future requests.
Admin history includes optional requester_tagging with status (waiting, pending, retrying, applied, failed, cancelled, partial), a safe message, can_retry, and an applied tag_label/applied_at receipt. It is not a live tag inventory. There is no automatic tag removal, custom mapping, historical backfill, or reconciliation of manual arr edits. Sonarr tags series, Lidarr tags artists, and Chaptarr tags authors per format; request history retains the requested title and scope. Book results include recipients with user_id, username, format, and the same status/receipt fields. Each newly admitted shared subscriber gets only their requested formats; owner transfers cannot reattribute jobs. Partial format delivery can produce different statuses, and retry requeues only eligible failed/retrying recipients.
